Now that I’m officially a coffee drinker, I wanted to know more about what coffee can do besides give you a burst of energy. I found that not only is coffee loaded with antioxidants, it also has a nice amount of B vitamins and may reduce your risk of catching diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson’s.
What I found really interesting during my research is how many skincare benefits are in
coffee. I pulled three tips for using coffee to improve a skin issue and listed them below. I definitely plan to start incorporating some of these tricks into my own beauty routine.
4 Beauty Benefits of Coffee
If you have a sunburn, you can use coffee to soothe skin and reduce swelling. First, brew your coffee and dilute it in cold water. Then, take a soft cloth and place it in the diluted brew, wring out the excess, and pat it onto the affected places. Repeat this process for a couple of days to see improvement.
Remove Dark Undereye Circles
Dark circles can really be a pain, but with coffee grounds, olive oil, and water, you should be able to lighten them up no time. Beverly Hills MD recommends using the caffeine in coffee to help dilate the blood vessels that contribute to dark circles.
Put ½ tsp of coffee ground and olive oil with a couple of drops of water in a bowl. Mix it all together and apply the paste underneath your eyes without patting it (probably easiest to apply with a facial applicator). Leave this on for 5-10 minutes, rinse off with water or gently wipe off with soft cloth. Repeat as often as you need to.
Coffee contributes to acne treatment by fighting against harmful bacteria. Coffee contains CGAs (chlorogenic acid), which has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. To treat acne, use coffee grounds as a natural exfoliator.
