I started distance learning yesterday, and it was a major adjustment for me, so I know these past two weeks have been hectic for you when it comes to doing school from home.
While going through my day, I thought of ways to help me feel more organized and less overwhelmed. I hope these tips help you adjust to distance learning a little better.
1. Write down important dates and times.
All the information coming through email comes with due dates and times. Stay on top of everything by writing down this information and setting reminders for when things should be worked on.
2. Manage time.
Plan your day out based on your lengthiest or hardest assignments. For example, yesterday, the majority of my time was spent on biology because of the amount of time required for each assignment. Then I worked my way through each class from there.
3. Communicate with teachers.
If you have any questions or concerns on any topic, email your teachers for clarity as soon as possible. This helped me get a lot of clarification on future assignments.
4. Talk to your classmates.
I needed some clarification on some of my assignments and my friends were able to help me a lot (which I am so thankful for!). Students and teachers speak a different language. Your classmates can sometimes explain the assignments better than teachers because your classmates can word things in a way you can understand.
5. Get ahead of the game.
When you’re done with your schoolwork, you’ll want a break and that’s okay because breaks are important. But after your break, try to stay ahead of your work by taking a look at upcoming assignments for that week. You’ll have a more productive day and feel better prepared when those assignments come up.
