A few months ago, I came up with this quick-and-easy breakfast I call jam toast. I know that sounds like a bougie way of saying “toast and jam,” but it’s actually a little different because I don’t use typical bread and jam...which still sounds a little bougie when I think about it, but oh well. Lol.
The ingredients are simple and the prep time is approximately 6 minutes.
Dalmatia fig spread
Instead of traditional fruit jam, I use Dalmatia Fig Spread, sold at Giant and Whole Foods supermarkets. I swap traditional white sandwich bread for a nice chewy rye bread.
First, preheat the oven to 375℉. While the oven is heating, take a butter knife and spread some of the fig spread over a couple pieces of rye. (Side note: notice how the spread melts over the bread...yum!)
Put the bread into the oven and toast for 5-10 minutes, depending on how well-done you like your toast. (I prefer 10 minutes.)
Take your toast out of the oven, add a little more fig spread and enjoy!
