The coronavirus cancelled a lot of plans this year, including my travel plans for my 16th birthday, but I was still able to have a pretty cool celebration anyway. We kept it outdoors and kept the number of invited guests within the covid guidelines for gathering.
The food from Farmers Famous Fish Truck was amazing. There was a choice of fried fish and fried chicken sandwiches and, of course, any event of mine has to have french fries as an option!
Velvet Cakes by Gwen did a mock cake to help create the birthday mood, but to keep it safe, we had slices already packaged for guests, as well as the most adorable cookies from Sugarluxe, and natural frozen pops from Pop In Artisan Pops.
I wanted to wear something a little over the top, so I pulled inspo from Draya Michele and Kim Kardashian and went for a fluffy tulle dress by KikiRiki. To balance the drama of the dress, I went with sneakers by Golden Goose and long box braids. This is one of my favorite looks. So glad I actually got a chance to wear it.
I was so nervous that people would be too afraid to show up to my birthday festivities, but the turnout was perfect. Spending that time with family and friends after being in quarantine for so long, was the best gift I could’ve gotten.
